Soccer Champs!

Immaculate Heart’s Varsity Soccer Team recently won the Sunshine League title after
defeating Notre Dame Academy in a 3-0 victory on senior night. This was the first time
in more than 15 years that IH was named Sunshine League Champions.

Coach Kevin Cadenas guided the team during its winning season, and many of the team’s
top players were recognized for their accomplishments. Sophomore Quincy Bowles was
named the Sunshine League’s Most Valuable Player – the first time an IH student has
received this honor in many years, according to Athletic Director Maureen Rodriguez.

Named to 1 st Team All Sunshine League were seniors Riley Younger and Eva Jones and
sophomores Mia Tetrault and Mei Li O’Neil. Those named to 2 nd Team All Sunshine
League were sophomores Quinn Lanza and Isabella Roney and freshman Ryan Younger.

Recognized with Captain’s Awards were Riley Younger and seniors Olivia Katz and Ella
Tetrault. The Bamboo interviewed all three captains for their reaction to winning the
league this year:

“It was the most exciting experience where our hard work during the season reached its
peak,” Ella Tetrault said.

Olivia Katz added, “Our senior night was really special since we won league. Best night
of my life!”

With the arrival of the team’s championship banner for the school auditorium, Riley
Younger said the league title “left a mark at our school when we look back at our
reunion.”

Also contributing to Immaculate Heart’s success in the Sunshine League this year were
the following Varsity Soccer players: senior Stella Bushkin; juniors Maddie Creasey,
Julianna DeNeve, Kathleen Gonzalez, Sam Hutchinson, Maya Marostica and Kiera
Martin; sophomores Lulu Aguirre, Hannah Bennett and Maggie Gold; and freshman
Mabel Green. Soccer reserves included freshmen Leila Parvinjah, Na’Lea Curiel, Emily
Garcera, Camille Labadie and Sofia Shapourian. Seniors Talia Berry and Eli Brown
served as team managers.
