Faces of IH: The Power of Music

By Mia Speier ’18

The Bamboo is introducing a new segment called the Faces of IH. Inspired by Humans of New York (HONY), a blog created by Brandon Stanton in 2010 dedicated to capturing the people of New York city, we strive to capture the wonderful faces that make up our vibrant community. Every week, Bamboo editors interview students from all grade levels and ask them questions pertaining to who they are and what they love. By establishing the Faces of IH we hope that you can get the opportunity to further understand your panda sisters and even find common grounds with them. This week we interviewed freshmen Lauryn Chamberlain and Alexa Bayliff. Enjoy!

Topic: What does music mean to you and how has it shaped who you are?

Lauryn Chamberlain

unnamed-1

“Music is my life. I love it because it is my escape to another world. I love to get away and calm down by putting my headphones on. I love getting into this feeling and making little music videos and dances in my head. It’s my secret escape from all the things I have gone through. I grew up with music. It’s been my teacher, and music is my greatest friend.”

Alexa Bayliff

unnamed

“The day I started playing drums was when I discovered my love for music. I found my confidence this way. I used to be more shy than I am now. Drums brought out the me I was always supposed to be.”
